The season will officially kick off Saturday morning with a ribbon cutting at 8 a.m.

“We’d like people to join us for the ribbon cutting,” said Lauren Fletcher, executive director of the Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a goal of mine to use the local farmers market as a means to boost the local economy of our county.”

At Saturday’s opening will be several returning vendors with onions, collards, spinach, sorghum, honey, fresh flowers, baked breads, hanging plants, vegetable plants and jams and jellies.

Additionally, the Scoops food truck will be onsite with breakfast, lunch and Italian and shaved ice; the Covington FFA plant sale; and local 4-Hers raising money for camp. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., local musician Ryan “Carbo” Cousar will be playig.

The market, which is located at 117 N. Main Street, will operate from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays and from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
