Two people were hurt during a house fire Thursday morning, Gilt Edge Fire Chief Brandon Fletcher said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home on Kellum Lane at 8:07. When they arrived five minutes later they found heavy smoke and fire coming out of the front of the home. The fire was contained primarily to the living room and they were able to contain it by 8:23 a.m.

One of the residents was able to get out of the home on their own and the other was able to get out through the back of the home with the assistance of a third person who stopped to help. An off-duty Covington firefighter/paramedic also stopped and helped provide medical support to the residents.

Both of the residents remain hospitalized.

Fletcher said firefighters from Gilt Edge were aided by firefighters from Garland, Covington, and Tipton County. Priority Ambulance Service, Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, First Utility and Southwest Electric also provided assistance.

This was in the city of Burlison, not Gilt Edge! Prayers for these people involved!
