Christopher Daniels, 29, was charged with attempted second degree murder after a stabbing that took place at the Budget Inn in Covington Thursday.

A Covington man has been charged with attempted second degree murder after assaulting another man with a knife Thursday afternoon.

According to Covington Police Chief Larry Lindsey, officers were dispatched to the Budget Inn on Hwy. 51 at 2:10 p.m. after reports that a man had been stabbed.

When police arrived they found a man in his mid-60s with multiple cuts on his face and neck, Lindsey said. Some of the cuts were “pretty severe.”

“They had been together drinking and got into a disagreement. He stabbed or slashed the victim, then left.”

Christopher Daniels, 29, was arrested a few hours later and was charged with attempted second-degree murder.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to Baptist Tipton for treatment and later transferred to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. He is in stable condition.

Daniels is being held on a $50,000 bond.
