Former Brighton alderman David Boone convicted of fondling

Instead of serving the Town of Brighton, a former alderman is now serving time.  David Boone was convicted of two counts of fondling last month, charges on which he was indicted in June 2021. Brighton residents file to have alderman David Boone ousted

Several residents from the Town of Brighton have filed a complaint to oust an alderman with ongoing legal issues. A Brighton alderman was indicted in DeSoto County, Miss. Wednesday and charged with two counts of fondling. Stephanie Chapman-Washam defeated former mayor Gus Smith to be Brighton’s next mayor. Incumbent mayor Sarah Crocker, who was the first woman to be mayor in Brighton, was appointed to the position in 2015 after Jeff Scott left office.
