Tinley McCoy has competed in a lot of prestigious motocross events over the years.

Heck, the 12-year-old from Brighton has been riding a dirt bike since she was four years old.

Another big one is coming up and she’ll be looking to further her reputation as one of the best racers in the United States.

From July 31 to Aug. 5, McCoy will be racing in the Monster Energy AMA Motocross National Championship. The event will be held at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

She will be competing against 41 other riders from across the country in the age 11-16 girls’ division for a national title.

McCoy takes her sport very seriously. She’s been working with a trainer and motocross team in Texas to get ready for the nationals. She earned her spot at the event by faring well at a regional qualifying event.

“She has put in the hard work every day to earn her ticket to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch,” said her mom, April McCoy. “Nothing about this sport is easy; it takes a lot of training one on one, group training, heart and dedication.”
