What’s happening in Tipton County: Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2025

By Echo Day on January 30, 2025

It’s going to be raining the next couple of days, but the weekend will be brighter and warmer and full of fun things to do! From the gardening series and a robotics competition to the Weinermobile visit and Sean of the South at the Ruffin, it’s going to be a good time.

Audition for ‘Legally Blonde’

Get ready to bend and snap—auditions for “Legally Blonde: The Musical” are here! Directed by April Cacy, this fun and energetic production is looking for talented performers to bring Elle Woods and her story to life. Auditions will take place on Friday, Jan. 31 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon. Callbacks are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 2 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this exciting musical filled with laughter, heart, and, of course, a little bit of pink!

Go to BHS’s Vex Robotics High Stakes Tournament

Get ready for an action-packed day of innovation and competition at the Brighton High School Vex Robotics High Stakes Tournament! Taking place on Feb. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., this exciting robotics event will bring together talented teams to showcase their engineering skills and strategic thinking. Hosted at 8045 Highway 51 S, Brighton, TN 38011, the tournament promises intense matchups, creative designs, and a celebration of STEM excellence. The tournament is open to the public and admission is free. For more details, contact Cheryl Jacobs at cjacobs1@tipton-county.com.

Learn about Crop Physiology at the February Gardening Series

The Tipton County Museum’s biannual gardening series – there’s one before spring and one in the fall – begins this Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. Bring a friend and listen to the lecture “Crop Physiology: Bridging Research and Agricultural Practice at West Tennessee Research and Education Center” given by graduate student Crystal Ferrell. The session is free to museum members and $5 for non-members (why aren’t you a member, though?). Find out more about the gardening series here.

If you’re into learning more about genealogy research, and how to use the site Family Search, there will be a session with museum archivist Sherri Onorati from 1-3 p.m. The cost is the same as the gardening series and is definitely worth more. Here’s more about that.

See the Weinermobile at Naifeh’s Cash Saver

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is making a special stop at Naifeh’s Cash Saver on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This iconic, giant hot dog on wheels is a must-see attraction, bringing fun, photo opportunities, and giveaways for the whole family. Don’t miss your chance to snap a picture with the Wienermobile and experience a piece of Americana right in your hometown. Stop by Naifeh’s Cash Saver and join in on the fun!

See Sean of the South at the Ruffin

Fans of heartfelt storytelling and Southern charm won’t want to miss Sean of the South, who will be taking the stage at the Ruffin Theater this Saturday at 6 p.m. for a special evening of music, humor, and storytelling. Known for his warm, nostalgic, and often humorous tales of Southern life, Sean Dietrich has captivated audiences across the country with his writings, live performances, and engaging social media presence. His storytelling blends heartfelt reflections on faith, family, and everyday life with humor that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds.

Tickets for the event are available now, and attendees can save $15 per ticket using the discount code SOUTH25 at checkout. Tickets can be purchased online at https://sean-of-the-south.ticketleap.com.
