Tipton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Covington police officers are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the area of Hwy. 51 and Jack Bennett Road early Friday morning.
Sheriff Shannon Beasley said preliminary reports indicated a silver Malibu-style vehicle and a red Mustang were traveling northbound on Hwy. 51 around the Jack Bennett Road area.
“According to witnesses, the vehicles were side by side when both vehicles began to drive at a high rate of speed,” the sheriff said. “Moments later, occupant(s) of the silver Malibu style car began shooting from the vehicle into the red Mustang and continued northbound into the Covington city limits.”
Beasley said witnesses and victims were being interviewed to gather more information.
