Munford man charged with vehicular homicide in Millington crash

Ethan Wells, 20, of Munford, was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and several other charges stemming from an accident in Millington that killed two people.

A 20-year-old from Munford has been charged with vehicular homicide after allegedly causing a wreck in Millington Thursday night that killed two people.

The accident took place near the busy intersection of Hwy. 51 and Wilkinsville, in front of Walmart and dozens of other businesses.

Witnesses said the truck driven by Ethan Wells was driving at a high rate of speed and crashed into an SUV. The SUV became engulfed in flames and its two occupants, who have not yet been identified by police, were unable to escape despite help from people attempting to free them.

Witnesses said Wells fled on foot, but was apprehended a short time later. He was transported to the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis for treatment has was booked into the Millington jail on charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to exercise due care, leaving the scene of a crash, motor vehicle theft and two counts of vehicular homicide.

The wreck is still under investigation. Anyone with information or evidence is asked to contact Millington Police Sgt. Childress at 901-873-5615.
