Covington police are investigating a stabbing at the Quality Inn on Deena Cove.

The incident, stemming from a domestic dispute, took place just before 5 p.m. Tuesday night.

“It involved a boyfriend and girlfriend, he beat her up pretty severely,” said police chief Larry Lindsey. “She used glass that had broken during the incident to stab him.”

The woman called her probation officer who then called police.

The couple involved has not yet been identified by police, but Lindsey said the man was flown to the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis in critical but stable condition. The woman was treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton.

They are both expected to make a full recovery.

The incident remains under investigation.

This is Covington’s second stabbing in as many weeks.

Last Tuesday, Danny Wakefield was killed during a domestic dispute on Rose Street.

The Leader will update this story as more information is released.
