Covington man indicted after two assaults on pregnant wife

By Echo Day on November 18, 2019

John Bradshaw
John Allen Bradshaw was indicted during the November 2019 term of the Tipton County Grand Jury for assaulting his pregnant wife.

A Covington man was indicted last week on charges he assaulted his pregnant wife in October 2018, possibly leading to the unborn baby’s death.

John Alston Bradshaw, of Bride Road, is accused of discharging a gun while attempting to restrain his wife with duct tape during an argument. She told police he then got on top of her stomach and the couple began fighting over the firearm.

Six days later his wife realized she hadn’t felt the baby move since the altercation. She was treated at a hospital where she learned the baby had died.

Bradshaw was charged for a previous domestic assault in which he is accused of hitting his wife in the face several times, strangling her and assaulting her. His wife was 24 weeks pregnant at the time of that incident and told police Bradshaw said he’d have to “finish her off” and took her phone for several days.

Bradshaw was charge with unlawful possession of a weapon, two counts aggravated domestic assault and prior domestic assault.

The case was investigated by the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office.

He was arraigned in Tipton County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Nov. 12 and has been released on bond. He is set to report back to court for a status hearing in February 2020.
