With the Christmas holidays quickly approaching, many traditional local events are scheduled to take place.

Tuesday, Nov. 29
Atoka will host its annual tree lighting in Adkison Park from 6:30 to 8 p.m. As always, there will be Christmas music, hot cocoa, and cookies.

Saturday, Dec. 3

Have pancakes with Santa and help raise money for CASA of Tipton County. The breakfast will take place from 7-11 a.m. at Munford First United Methodist Church. Tickets are $5.

Covington will host its Holly Jolly Day of Holiday Shopping at the civic center downtown from noon to 4 p.m.

Munford will host its Christmas parade downtown at 5 p.m. The best place to watch the parade is on Munford Avenue.

Monday, Dec. 5

The Town of Brighton will host its annual Christmas parade on Main Street. It will start at Brighton Elementary at 7 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 9

Santa’s annual ride through Atoka begins at 6 p.m. The two-day event will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 10. See townofatoka.com for the route.

Saturday, Dec. 10

Dickens Christmas is back for another year of transporting event-goers back to Victorian England. The event will be held in historic downtown Covington from 10-5. Enjoy period costumes, carolers, carriage rides and visits to the merchants around the square.

Atoka will host its Merry Meet-N-Greet event in Nancy Lane Park from 11-2. Take photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch and enjoy train rides, crafts, cocoa, cookies, and vendors. Santa’s Ride will conclude, with Santa pulling out of the fire station at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 11

Dickens Christmas continues for another fun-filled afternoon, noon to 4 p.m. around the square in Covington.

Monday, Dec. 12

Covington will host its Christmas parade at 7 p.m. The parade route extends from the high school, up Main Street, and around the square.

Don’t forget to send a letter to Santa, too! The Leader is accepting electronic submissions until Dec. 16. Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera to get started! Our annual publication will be published on Thursday, Dec. 22.
