Munford grad Ansley Ecker will compete for Miss Teen USA at Graceland this weekend

By Echo Day on November 2, 2020

Munford High School graduate Ansley Ecker, now at the University of Memphis, will compete in the Miss Teen USA pageant Saturday.

It’s just a matter of days before Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2020, Ansley Ecker, 19, will be walking in Memphis to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA 2020. The 2020 MISS USA® and 2020 MISS TEEN USA® competitions will take place at Elvis Presley’s world-famous home, Graceland, in Memphis.

MISS TEEN USA will stream live on the Miss Universe Organization social channels Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8-10 CST. MISS USA will air live on FYI™ Monday, Nov. 9 from 7-9 CST. The AAA Four Diamond resort and hotel The Guest House at Graceland will be the host hotel.

Ansley is a 19-year-old recent graduate of Munford High School where she excelled both academically and in extracurricular activities. She was an honor student and named Student of the Month by the faculty, twice.

Ansley enjoyed being a part of several clubs and organizations within her school, and was a three-year varsity cheerleader, member of the National Honor Society, FBLA, FCCLA, Academic Knowledge Team, Journalism Staff and Key Club, where she held a leadership role.

Ansley is now a freshman at the University of Memphis where she is a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Delta women’s fraternity.

With a passion for volunteering, Ansley desires to help other families that are experiencing critical medical hardships, much like she is experiencing with her own family.

To reach those who need emotional support, Ansley Created C.A.R.E. – Cancer Affects and Reaches Everyone. This organization is committed to increasing the quality of life of cancer patients and their families as they fight the biggest battle of their lives. Additionally, through her work with Relay for Life and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, she will bring light to people in need, especially teen patients and caregivers, whom she feels are underserved and hold a very special place in her heart.

“I am so proud of Ansley and how she has served the state of Tennessee especially in the middle of a pandemic,” said Pageant Director Kim Greenwood. “Ansley is a beautiful young woman with a heart of gold and we are very fortunate to have her as such a strong leader during these unprecedented times!  It is very exciting for Ansley and the Miss Tennessee USA pageant to welcome the Miss Universe Organization,  Miss Teen USA and Miss USA contestants to Memphis from all 50 states and the District of Columbia!”

At both MISS USA and MISS TEEN USA, women representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia will compete in multiple categories. The winner of Miss USA will move to New York City to represent the brand and various philanthropic organizations during her reign, while Miss Teen USA will carry out her duties from her home state.

Additionally, Miss Tennessee USA pageant officials have announced that applications are being accepted from young women throughout the state of Tennessee who would like to compete in the 2021 Miss Tennessee USA and Teen USA Pageants in March 2021.

Qualified applicants must be a resident of Tennessee, a single female (never married and never had a child) and a U.S. citizen. Those wishing to apply must be between 18 and 27-years-old for Miss Tennessee USA or 14 and 19-years-old for the Teen pageant as of Jan. 1, 2021.

Applications for the pageant can be found on www.misstennesseeusa.com under the “Apply Now” section.
