TBI, TCSO investigating shooting death of local musician

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tipton County Sheriff's Office are investigating the fatal shooting of a local musician. At approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday a shooting was reported on Old Memphis Road, in the Covington area, sheriff Shannon Beasley said. The TCAP results are in – and Tipton County’s third graders did better than the state average

No hazardous materials aboard train that derailed in Mason Thursday morning

A train through Mason derailed early Thursday morning, the Covington Fire Department has confirmed. The derailment took place near Old L&N Road, between Williamson and Washington, at approximately 3:40 a.m. Covington Fire Chief Richard Griggs said there were nine cars involved.
