Covington’s ‘Uneek’ Tate becoming a star after winning Walmart rap battle

By Jeff Ireland on October 25, 2019

To say Octavious “Uneek” Tate was surprised is probably an understatement. Last July the nine-year employee of Walmart in Covington was pulled off the sales floor by one of the company’s “social champions,” employees who work on promoting the stores through social media. The employee wanted to know if Tate was interested in participating in a rap battle with Walmart employees … [Read more...] about Covington’s ‘Uneek’ Tate becoming a star after winning Walmart rap battle

Monster game from Jesse Savage propels Munford to key win over Kirby

By Jeff Ireland on October 21, 2019

[metaslider id=2303] Simply put, Munford junior Jesse Savage had the game of his life Friday night. He threw for completions on two fake punts, made all three of his extra points and made all three of his field goals, the third of which came in double overtime and gave the Cougars a huge 30-27 Region 8-5A win at home over Kirby. Despite the massive game he had, after it was … [Read more...] about Monster game from Jesse Savage propels Munford to key win over Kirby

By Jeff Ireland on October 18, 2019

Covington senior golfer Scout Davis did not bring home a title from the state tournament earlier this week at WillowBrook Golf Course in Manchester. However, his performance there, and throughout his career, probably makes him the best golfer in the history of Covington High School. Rosemark volleyball team knocks off six-time defending state champs

By Jeff Ireland on October 17, 2019

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy volleyball team may not win a state title this year and may not even make the state tournament. However, Tuesday’s win at Goodpasture High School in Madison, Tenn. has already made the 2019 season a historic one. TRA beat Webb School of Knoxville, the six-time defending state champs, in a wildly entertaining match (25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-7). … [Read more...] about Rosemark volleyball team knocks off six-time defending state champs

Despite loss, Covington volleyball can make history tonight

By Jeff Ireland on October 17, 2019

Tuesday night was supposed to be a big celebration for the Covington Lady Charger volleyball team. Covington was facing Ripley for the Region 8-AA title. They had beaten Ripley three times already, including in last week’s district title match, dropping just one set in those three matches combined. Ripley had other ideas. The Lady Tigers beat Covington 25-15, 25-18 and 28-26 … [Read more...] about Despite loss, Covington volleyball can make history tonight
