By 1 p.m. Monday, Tipton County had already seen nearly five inches of snow and it is expected to continue snowing through the late afternoon hours, bringing several more inches of snow.
There’s also a layer of ice below it, making travel potentially treacherous.
The snowfall for Memphis is considered historic, but 14 inches of snow fell in Tipton County on March 1, 2009. Since then, Tipton County hasn’t seen more than 3 inches of snow since Jan. 20, 2011.

There will be no COVID testing or vaccines Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Looking ahead
Temperatures have been below freezing and will continue to be until this weekend, which means demand for utilities is at an all-time time and the snow and ice will not likely melt for several days.
The low temperature for Monday night will be 1 – yes, 1! The current wind chill Monday afternoon is -2.
Tuesday’s high is forecast at 18, with a low of 9, and wind chills will remain subzero.
On Wednesday and Thursday we’ll see temperatures closer to 30 with good chances for snow both days.
Friday the sun is expected to come out, though it will remain below freezing. Saturday we’re expecting mostly cloudy with 37 as a high. Sunday we’re expecting rain and a high of 46 degrees.
