A unity walk is planned in Covington Sunday afternoon in the wake of global demonstrations supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
“We are bringing awareness to social justice, police brutality, racism and, most importantly, equality,” said Queisha Harris, one of the event’s organizers.
The walk will begin at Crumpy’s, which is located at 835 Hwy. 51 North, at 3 p.m.
It will end at Frazier Park, where there will also be booths for voter registration, information on restoring drivers licenses which have been suspended, credit repair, literacy and more.
Harris said there will be plenty of water and refreshments on hand for participants, who are encouraged to wear black.
“We’re inviting everyone to come. They can bring signs and we’re accepting donations to help with the cost of the water.”
Harris said the walk is being done with a purpose.
“This is going to be peaceful, non-violent, but very, very meaningful to show that all people can come together as one. We are uniting everyone, all men and women. We want everyone to come take a walk with Jay Henning, Donnell Logan and Matthew Pryor,” she said. “This one spark️ can enlighten our whole community! The change begins with you!”

“All surrounding cities Covington, Mason, Brighton, Munford, Atoka, Ripley, Henning, Somerville, Brownsville are all being challenged to take this unity walk!”
