Atoka Cinema 16 set to open Friday

By Echo Day on June 13, 2025

ATOKA – After a brief closure and weeks of behind-the-scenes work, the long-standing movie theatre in Atoka is set to reopen its doors as Atoka Cinema 16 on Friday, June 13, under the operation of Phoenix Theatres Entertainment, LLC.

Moviegoers can expect a refreshed experience, with new management, all-new staff, updated kitchen equipment, and significantly lower admission prices. The reopening lineup will include several fan-favorite titles such as How to Train Your Dragon, Ballerina, Materialist, Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning, and Lilo & Stitch.

“We are excited to serve first-run films to the greater Atoka area for years to come,” said Phil Zacheretti, President and CEO of Phoenix Theatres Entertainment. “Too many theatres have closed in the past few years and left towns without a movie theatre for their community. Phoenix Theatres is proud to keep the Atoka 16 Theatre open for its past patrons who have been loyal customers for several decades.”

Recliners, renovations, and a robust menu

All 16 auditoriums at Atoka 16 now feature comfortable electric recliners, offering guests a more relaxing viewing experience. Behind the scenes, extensive cleaning and repairs have brought new life to the venue.

Among the most notable upgrades is the installation of new kitchen equipment, allowing for a broader menu of hot food options. In addition to traditional concessions like Orville Redenbacher popcorn, Coca-Cola products, and candy, the expanded menu includes nachos, Eisenberg all-beef hot dogs, king-size pretzels, seasoned French fries, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and personal-size pizzas.

Weekly deals and annual perks

Theatre officials say affordability will be a cornerstone of the revamped Atoka 16. The location will now offer $5 Bargain Tuesdays, with all seats for regularly scheduled films priced at just $5 per person all day. (This price excludes 3-D showings, special events, online fees, or other upcharges.)

To sweeten the deal for frequent visitors, Phoenix Theatres is also introducing its 2025 Annual Popcorn Bucket. For a one-time purchase of $14.99, guests will receive a reusable bucket good through the end of the year. Refills are just $4.99 per visit, with unlimited refills available all day.

The theatre will also carry exclusive merchandise, including designer popcorn buckets, specialty drink cups, movie-themed blankets, and other limited-edition collectibles tied to major film releases.

Open daily

Atoka Cinema 16 will operate seven days a week, accept all major credit cards, and screen both new releases and beloved classics. With its updated amenities and commitment to affordability, Phoenix Theatres aims to restore the Atoka theatre as a central entertainment hub for Tipton County families.
