A Shelby County firefighter was arrested for aggravated domestic assault, amongst other charges, over the weekend.
Covington Police said they were dispatched to a home on Surrey Hill Place on Aug. 24 after it was reported a domestic assault incident had taken place.
Voss’s wife, current girlfriend, and former girlfriend reportedly told police they had been assaulted for days, even years in some reports, by Jonathan Voss. Police said some of the violence took place in front of two young children who also live in the home.
An order of protection was filed in Tipton County Chancery Court to protect the victims. Officers removed several firearms from the home for safekeeping until the hearing.
During the investigation and resulting search warrant, they also removed a tube of anabolic steroids and other evidence, electronic and otherwise, which they said corroborated the victims’ allegations.
On Aug. 31 was charged with three counts of aggravated domestic assault, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of interference with 911 calls, and possession of schedule III drugs.
On Sept. 1, he was released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Tipton County General Sessions on Sept. 12.
Voss, 30, works for the Shelby County Fire Department. He has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation
