The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday morning two of its correctional officers have been arrested on separate drug charges.

Amanda Jones, 37, was arrested Friday after narcotics officers saw her buying Schedule II narcotics. She was not on duty at the time of her arrest.

“There is currently no evidence to indicate (she) participated in any illegal activity while serving on the job,” Sheriff Pancho Chumley said.

The investigation also led to the arrest of Taras Baker, 25, for simple possession of marijuana.

Both were terminated immediately.

Jones remains in custody without bond pending further investigation.

Baker posted a $1,000 bond and is due back in court on Aug. 30.

Chumley said he is disappointed and disgusted with their arrests.

“The tainted actions of these two individuals involved in this incident do not reflect the hard work and integrity of the men and women in this office as a whole.”

Last November two other correctional officers were arrested, and have recently been indicted, for selling drugs in the jail.
