The City of Munford has scheduled a city-wide clean-up day for Saturday, April 27 from 8 to 11 a.m., starting and ending at Munford City Hall

“The City of Munford is pleased to again partner with Keep Tipton County Beautiful to offer the citizens of Munford an organized day to come together to beautify our city,” said Mayor Dwayne Cole. “It takes every citizen to address the litter problem in our area, and we hope all who can will come out in support of this effort.”

Area churches, businesses, civic groups, scouts and students are encouraged to participate in the city-wide trash pick-up.

Volunteers are asked to report to City Hall at 1397 Munford Ave. at 8 a.m.  Instructions and supplies will be offered and volunteers will start at an assigned area.  Gloves will not be provided, but a safety vest, pick-up tongues and bags will be available.  Families and groups with younger volunteers will be assigned areas away from roadside traffic.

A hot dog lunch will be provided for the volunteers at 11 a.m. when they return to City Hall.A household waste container will be placed in front of City Hall beginning the day of the clean-up event through Friday, May 3.  No hazardous waste, batteries or tires will be accepted.

The City of Munford has a year-round recycling effort, with recycling bins for the collection of plastics, cardboard and newsprint located at the south end of the parking lot at Haddad’s Department Store on Crigger Street.

The clean-up event is scheduled in conjunction with Keep Tipton County Beautiful Clean-Up county-wide activities and Keep America Beautiful Great American Clean-Up, the largest community improvement program beautifying and improving communities all across America.

For more information, contact Barbara Dorn at 837-5972 or visit the city’s website, www.munford.com.
