A child was hit in a drive-by shooting that took place in Covington overnight.

According to police chief Buddy Lewis the incident took place at 1 a.m. on S. College St.,  and sent the child to the hospital in non-critical condition. The child was reportedly struck in the arm.

“It appears to be a targeted shooting and not a random act,” he said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
