Playoff football gets going tonight for Covington, Munford and Tipton-Rosemark

By Jeff Ireland on November 4, 2022

It's been an interesting journey to the postseason for Covington, Munford and Tipton-Rosemark Academy, all of which play their playoff openers tonight. Munford, of course, finished 10-0 in the regular season for the first time in program history and won a third region title. Covington lost two regular season games, but they were against two teams (Munford and Haywood) ranked … [Read more...] about Playoff football gets going tonight for Covington, Munford and Tipton-Rosemark

Rosemark gets big games from Fullen cousins and Sam Cannon to move a win away from playoffs

By Jeff Ireland on October 12, 2022

In the days approaching Tipton-Rosemark's home game vs. Harding Academy last Friday, head coach William Dean had a very specific message for his team. "We told them they have to win the next two to be in, kind of a playoff mindset," Dean said. "If you win you get to keep playing, if you lose you're done." Rosemark chose the first option. Behind huge games from wideout Ellis … [Read more...] about Rosemark gets big games from Fullen cousins and Sam Cannon to move a win away from playoffs

For the second straight season there will be a new man leading the Tipton-Rosemark Academy football program. William Dean, who was a TRA varsity assistant and middle school head coach the last three seasons, was promoted to head coach last month. He replaces Shannon O'Brien, who retired after one season as the Rebels' head coach. Dean, 26, moved here three years ago after … [Read more...] about Former assistant William Dean hired to lead Tipton-Rosemark football into the future

Short-handed TRA Rebels pick up key league win over Clarksville Academy

By Jeff Ireland on October 12, 2020

[metaslider id=6806] Because of some injuries and COVID-19 quarantines, just 27 of Rosemark's 40 players made the 185-mile trip to Clarksville Academy for a key DII-A-West game Friday night. Also because of quarantines, the team did not practice Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. For two and a half quarters the Rebels' lack of depth and practice did not seem to be an issue as TRA … [Read more...] about Short-handed TRA Rebels pick up key league win over Clarksville Academy

A war of words? Eh, kind of … Week 7 previews for Covington-Milan, Brighton-Arlington, TRA-TCA

By Jeff Ireland on October 2, 2020

In high school football it's pretty rare to get a little pre-game back and forth between two coaches, but we are lucky enough to have some of that heading into tonight's showdown between second-ranked Covington and sixth-ranked Milan. Thanks to my buddy Victor Parkins over at the Milan-Mirror Exchange, it was relayed to me that Milan head coach Carl Diffee said the following: … [Read more...] about A war of words? Rosemark picks up its first win of the season with a 20-6 victory over rival Fayette Academy

By Jeff Ireland on September 21, 2020

Fayette Academy, one of Tipton-Rosemark Academy's biggest rivals, had beaten the Rebels five straight seasons heading into Friday's DII-A-West showdown between the two teams in Somerville. Two of Rosemark's current assistant coaches were Rebel players the last time TRA beat Fayette Academy. When Tanner Howell scored on a short run late in the first quarter to put the Vikings … [Read more...] about Rosemark picks up its first win of the season with a 20-6 victory over rival Fayette Academy

Tipton-Rosemark Academy football has resumed offseason workouts with COVID-19 regulations

By Jeff Ireland on June 10, 2020

[metaslider id=5707] If you’ve ever spent anytime in a high school football weight room or locker room, one of the first things you’ll probably notice is the smell. With a bunch of teenage boys spending a lot of time in there sweating, plus the discarded sweaty clothes, it doesn’t exactly smell like a candle shop, unless it was one with body odor-scented candles. When … [Read more...] about Tipton-Rosemark Academy football has resumed offseason workouts with COVID-19 regulations
