By Echo Day on November 23, 2022

The days leading up to his last as mayor were bittersweet, Justin Hanson said.  “The best way I can put it is like it’s you’re a high school senior or college senior and you know graduation is right around the corner. It’s a weird feeling, but it’s good.”  Hanson’s been in the public eye since he graduated from college two decades ago. He first worked for WKBL in Covington, … [Read more...] about Hanson calls leaving mayor’s office ‘bittersweet’

Ford to build $5.6 billion manufacturing facility 14 miles from Covington

By Jeff Ireland on September 28, 2021

If it feels like people have been talking about the Memphis Regional Megasite for more than a decade, it's because they have. The idea of an industrial megasite in West Tennessee began to take form 15 years ago. In 2009, the state bought a 4,100-acre piece of land in Haywood County just off Interstate 40 (14 miles from Covington) and discussions and rumors continued for the … [Read more...] about Ford to build $5.6 billion manufacturing facility 14 miles from Covington

By Echo Day on January 21, 2021

Tuesday Covington’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted against making changes to the charter that would allow the mayor to vote on all measures. The revision, which had been in the works since early last summer, would have made the mayor a member of the board and changed the requirements for meetings from “four aldermen” to “four members of the board.” What this meant was if two … [Read more...] about Covington board votes against making changes to quorum, mayoral vote
