Covington routs Liberty Tech to solidify playoff position

By The Leader on October 10, 2023

Normally they turn out the lights when the game is over. It took nearly 40 minutes to get all the lights on at Liberty Tech on Friday night. Once they did come on, the Crusaders (0-7, 0-4 Region) likely wished for a power failure. There was no lack of power for the Chargers (6-2, 4-1 Region), who scored 10 touchdowns en route to a 70-12 Region 7-3A victory. The point total … [Read more...] about Covington routs Liberty Tech to solidify playoff position

East Nashville stops Covington a win away from state title game

By The Leader on November 29, 2022

Week 1 of the season, Covington fans were shocked to face their first loss in an opener since 2017 to Munford, which went on to go undefeated in the regular season. According to head coach J.R. By Jeff Ireland on November 21, 2022

[metaslider id=11570] Last year Covington's season ended with a controversial loss at Dyersburg in the state quarterfinals. The year before that the Chargers' season was stopped by COVID-19. Covington routs Millington to move into state quarterfinals

By Jeff Ireland on November 15, 2022

[metaslider id=11543] Considering Covington beat Millington 44-0 two and a half months ago, you couldn't blame the Chargers if they were a little overconfident heading into Friday night's rematch in the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs. Early on, thanks primarily to a couple of Covington turnovers, it looked like maybe Covington was taking its opponent too lightly … [Read more...] about Covington routs Millington to move into state quarterfinals
