The eight Tipton County-area high school basketball teams have a lot of talent. We talked to local coaches and a few other people in the know to come up with the 20 best. Here they are, in alphabetical order:

BOYS

Brandon Alston, Covington – A 6-4 forward who can move, Alston averaged 15 points and 10 boards a game last year.

Alex Anderson, TRA – He’s 6-6 but moves like a guard. Anderson was all-state last year and has committed to South Alabama.

Patrick Green, TRA – He’s an all-around athlete who does all the little things for the Rebels.

Travonte Powell, Covington – The point guard runs the show for Covington and led them in scoring.

T.J. Rivers, Brighton – He’s a good shooter who was second on the team in scoring as a freshman.

Anthony Smith, Brighton – Smith is a crafty lefty who does most of his damage around the rim.

Tyjuan Smith, Covington – He looks like a defensive end at 6-4, but he can move.

Ethan Stewart, TRA – Stewart was quietly a big reason the Rebels made it to state last year.

Javaris Tolton, Munford – He’s a 6-3 forward who came on strong late last season.

T.J. Tyus, Munford – This senior point guard has started since he was a sophomore.

GIRLS

Albanie Dunn, Brighton – She can shoot the lights out when she gets hot and is a three-year starter.

Felia Fayne, Covington – A six-footer who can move, Fayne averaged 11 points and seven rebounds last year.

Brianna Hall, TRA – A quick guard, Hall has been a starter since she was a freshman.

Kalynn Howard, Covington – The Lady Charger point guard led her team, and the county, in scoring last season with 18.6 per game.

Sylvia Jones, Brighton – Jones is a dynamic scorer who is very difficult to keep away from the rim.

Maiya Reed, Munford – Reed is a super steady ball-handler who runs the Munford offense.

Mary Richardson, Munford – This athletic senior is probably the team’s most versatile player.

Megan Sanfratello, TRA – Sanfratello led TRA with 17 points per game and is being recruited by several colleges.

Trinity Taylor, Covington – She’s a shifty guard and brings a lot of experience to the court.

Abby West, TRA – This DSCC signee averaged 14 points per game and has scored more than 1,000 in her career.
