Seven Tipton County-area football players named TnFCA all-state

By Jeff Ireland on January 4, 2022

The Tennessee Football Coaches Association released its all-state high school football teams on Jan. 1 and seven Tipton County-area players received recognition.

Covington High School had the most players in the county recognized with three: juniors Jamarion Dowell and A.C. Mason and senior Jalen Fayne. Dowell, who made the Class 3A team as a running back, rushed for 1,479 yards and 20 touchdowns on 170 carries last season. Fayne, who rushed for 1,018 and 13 touchdowns, made the team as an athlete. Mason, who has been offered by the University of Tennessee, made the team as a linebacker.

Munford senior running back Auvic White and Brighton senior linebacker Derrion Lewis made the Class 5A all-state team. White, the Region 8-5A offensive MVP, rushed for 1,723 yards and 23 touchdowns on 234 carries for his third straight 1,000-yard rushing season.

Defensive lineman Gibson Phillips and quarterback Payne Fullen, both Tipton-Rosemark seniors, made the DII-A all-state team. Fullen rushed for 1,154 yards and 15 TDs on 100 carries and also passed for 579 yards and eight TDs.
