Multiple cross country runners from Tipton County high schools fared well at Tuesday’s region meet in Alamo and punched their tickets for the state meet Nov. 5-6 in Hendersonville.

The Brighton girls’ team – Brie Howard, Kailyn Varnadore, Karsen Waddell, Kamryn Bridges, Presley Smith, Mackenzie Winnans and Hailey Landers – finished third to qualify for state as a team.

Howard led all Tipton County runners with a third place finish to also qualify as an individual. Landers finished 13th and Varnadore took 20th.

Munford’s girls finished fifth and the Covington girls took sixth. The top three teams qualify for state.

Tia Crider of Covington finished seventh to qualify for state as an individual. Also qualifying were Avery Yeager (eighth) of Munford and Ma’Liyah Gilliam (ninth) of Covington.

On the boys’ side, Covington finished second to make state for a second straight season. Munford took seventh and Brighton was 10th.

Sandarius Coleman (17:33) finished fourth for Covington and Jaylen Denmark ran a personal best time of 17:35 to take fifth. Both also qualified as individuals.

Munford’s Ryan Coley was the top boys’ Tipton County runner with a third-place finish that qualified him for state.
