The Covington Lady Charger softball team continued its dominance of District 15-AA when they hosted the district tournament last week and early this week.
Covington won three straight, including a 14-2 rout of Bolivar on Monday in the title game, to claim the program’s 26th district title.
Monday’s title game was decided in the first inning when six of the first seven Covington batters scored for a 6-0 lead. Eight more scored in the second frame, highlighted by a three-run homer by Anna Gover.
Kayla Pitts drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double in the first inning and Gracyn Ramsey singled in a run in the first. Hannah Kirby and Lauren Vickery drove in one run each.
Vickery struck out four and allowed just one hit in five innings of work.
