HOOPS PREVIEW: Raven Sims, Elyse Warren lead the way for Lady Rebels

By Jeff Ireland on November 23, 2021

Head coach: Cedric Anderson (third season)

Last season: 22-4, lost in sub-state

Key players lost: Jordan Allen, Sarah Thornell, Brianna Hall

Key players returning: Raven Sims, Elyse Warren, Ava Anderson

Tipton-Rosemark has played a break-neck pace since head coach Cedric Anderson arrived on the scene three years ago.

That’s probably going to change this season. Over the last two seasons a number of key players have graduated and that has left the Anderson with just six players on his roster.

“This did not catch us by surprise,” Anderson said. “We were hoping we would get some kids coming to the school from the middle school level but that has not happened. Maybe next year but this year we’ve only got six girls. We really, really got to watch how we play and change the style. We’ve got to really manage those kinds of things.”

The good news is that roster has at least two future college players, something most DII teams do not have.

Junior point guard Raven Sims has more than a dozen D-I offers after averaging 16 points per game a season ago. Elyse Warren, a senior who transferred from Lausanne last season, will also have an opportunity to play on the next level.

The rest of the roster is largely untested, but Anderson believes they are ready for the challenge. Ava Anderson and Jacklyn Hailer project to see their playing time increase dramatically this season. Emma. Richardson and Riley Bowers will also be in the mix.

“It’s going to be a challenge this season,” Anderson said. “Our role players are going to have to step up and hopefully we can peak at the right time.”
