Sarah Elizabeth Cousar Poston, a former standout softball player at Covington High School and current teacher and coach at the school, was inducted into the Freed-Hardeman Athletics Hall of Fame last Saturday.

Her former Freed coach, Todd Humphry, introduced Poston at the ceremony.

“Sarah Elizabeth was such an impactful player for us,” he said. “What she was able to do throughout her career is what helped put us on the national stage.”

During her career at Freed, Poston was named the NAIA National Player of the Week, an All-American and the conference player of the year.

She set school records in career pitching wins, wins in a season, complete games and innings pitched.

During her sophomore and junior years she led the team in hits, batting average and home runs.

Poston, who graduated from Covington in 2010, was inducted into the hall of fame in her first year of eligibilty and is just the fourth softball player ever inducted.
