Brighton High football team releases revised schedule after Memphis teams sit out

By Jeff Ireland on August 6, 2020

Shelby County Schools officials announced earlier this week that its school’s football teams will not being playing games until the end of September or early October.

That has left some teams in other counties scrambling to rearrange their schedules.

Neither Covington nor Tipton-Rosemark have any SCS teams on its schedule. At this point, only a Week 2 matchup with a team from Georgia has affected Covington.

It’s a different story for Munford and Brighton. They play in Region 8-5A with Shelby County teams Kingsbury, Kirby, Overton, Ridgeway and Southwind.

Munford is still working on its schedule, which includes three games against those teams during that time period, plus one non-region game against SCS school Craigmont on Sept. 4.

Brighton released its revised schedule this morning.

It looks likes this:

Aug. 21 at Bolivar

Aug. 28 vs. Dyersburg

Sept. 4 at Millington

Sept. 11 vs. Covington

Sept. 18 at Munford

Oct. 2 at Arlington

Oct. 9 at Southwind

Oct. 23 at Ridgeway

Oct. 30 vs. Overton
