Gary Lynn Cady

By Echo Day on February 20, 2020

Mr. Gary Lynn Cady, 71, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Covington, TN, died in Blessing Hospital Quincy at 7:40 p.m. on February 14, 2020.

He was born October 18, 1948 in Macomb, Illinois to Elsie Mavis Duncan and Everett Harold Cady. On May 10, 1975, Gary was married to Jeri Lyn Klingenberg in the First Presbyterian Church on 24th St. in Quincy by Rev. Behrn.

Gary retired as an SCPO from the U.S. Navy in 1990, after serving his country for 20 years.

Gary was happiest in front of a broken computer with his dog Lady Bug at his side. He was the family’s go to tech guy. Amazon will truly miss him, but his daughter Melissa will carry on his online shopping addiction in his honor. He will always be remembered by those who love him, rockin’ a plaid, snap button, short sleeve collared shirt, sweatpants, and his U.S. Navy hat that he wore proudly. He had many titles, including husband, dad, and Senior Chief, but his favorite was Granpa.

He is survived by his wife Jeri; daughters: Angela (Troy) Mathis of Pocahontas, TN; and Melissa (Ronnie) Sorrell of Covington, TN; his son Joel Cady of Quincy; seven grandsons: Mycal, Zak, and Jaykob Bandy, Kenneth Sorrell, Mark and Wylie Mathis, and Charles Cady-Pruitt; three granddaughters: Emilee (Drew) Hunt, Lynsey Bandy, and Veronica Sorrell; and a great grandson, Jaxxon Declan Hunt. He is also survived by his mother Elsie Cady, sister Nancy Schmidt, brothers Richard and Neil Cady, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Everett Harold Cady and his brothers, Roger and Larry Cady.
