What’s happening this weekend: Trains, movies, moonshine, music and more!

Tipton County is the place to be this weekend, with exciting grand openings, cultural celebrations, and family-friendly fun happening across Covington and Atoka. Whether you’re looking for a first-run movie, a nostalgic train ride, handcrafted spirits, live music or community events, there’s something for everyone June 13–15, 2025.

FRIDAY, JUNE 13

All aboard in Atoka

Atoka Railroad Adventure officially reopens at 5 p.m. Friday at 110 Michael Ave., bringing back the beloved family attraction with its outdoor activities fully operational. Dads can enjoy free miniature golf all weekend in celebration of Father’s Day. The park has been restored by Amanda and Junior Faurbo and local volunteers to honor the legacy of Jim and Ola Brown.

Movies return to Atoka Cinema 16

Atoka Cinema16 reopens Friday under the new management of Phoenix Theatres Entertainment. The renovated facility features electric recliners, updated concessions, and $5 Bargain Tuesdays. Opening weekend films include How to Train Your Dragon, Ballerina, Materialist, Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning, Lilo & Stitch, and other recent releases. The theater is open daily.

SATURDAY, JUNE 14

Depot Day debuts in Covington

The Depot District will come alive Saturday with the inaugural Depot Day, taking place from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and centered around Liberty Vintage Marketplace and 797 Distillery. The schedule includes:

  • Farmers market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (awards at 3 p.m.)
  • Crawfish boil beginning at 11 a.m. until sold out
  • Live music from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the Liberty Vintage Stage featuring J. Wes Walker, Noah Smyth, KickN’Pony, Lyn Jones, Peter Blunt System, and Gilt Edge
  • Cornhole tournament at 3 p.m.
  • Food trucks, artisan vendors, a beer garden, and spirit tastings

Depot Day is free to attend, and guests can purchase food, drinks, and merchandise from local vendors.

Munford Farmers & Artisans Market

Also Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, the Munford Farmers & Artisans Market will be open at Veterans Plaza (1483 Munford Ave.). The June 14 vendor list includes McNeill’s Farm Fresh Produce, Jenn’s Jewels, I’m Booked, Heaven Scent Flower Farm, Llama’s Diner, Regina’s Gourmet Recipes, The Bayberry Marketplace, Stella Candle Co., Tide and Tackle, 2KC Cookie Co., Ice Cream Tour, The Daily Bread, Poppin’ Sweets, and UT Extension.

Juneteenth at Frazier Park

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the Tipton County NAACP will host its annual Juneteenth Celebration in the Park at Frazier Park, 412 Long Avenue in Covington. The free event includes music, games, vendors, line dancing, health screenings, and a blood drive. All are welcome.
