What’s happening this weekend in Tipton County: Jan. 17-19, 2025

By Echo Day on January 17, 2025

It’s too cold and there’s still snow on the ground, but if you’re looking to do something in Tipton County this weekend there are a few indoor activities to keep you warm!

Elvis returns to the Ruffin Friday night

Legend has it The King once played The Ruffin stage and Friday night he’s back — well, a tribute performer will be — and he’s bringing the music with him! Brian Lee Howell brings Elvis to life with a show that begins at 7 p.m. Landon Ray Lane is the opening act and will perform the music of Jerry Lee Lewis. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased here: https://www.tiptonartscouncil.org/event-details/elvis

Try a free art class – or two! – at the Turquoise Paintbrush

The Turquoise Paintbrush is hosting a Studio Sampler Weekend, offering a variety of free art classes for all ages, including painting, crafting, and jewelry making. Participants can enjoy door prizes, swag bags for the first 10 customers to purchase classes, and unlimited access to multiple sessions on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sunday’s Family Fun Day includes 10% off studio projects, creating a perfect opportunity for creative family bonding. For more information, visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TurquoisePaintbrush.

Get cozy at a local coffee shop or book shop

Tipton County is home to several locally-owned bakeries, coffee shops, and book shops and their owners will be happy to see you visit! On the square in Covington, you can stop by Dulce Amada bakery – you can’t miss the white and pink building! – Crafted Coffee, Wooty’s Coffee Roastery (formerly In House), and JAM Books and Records for tasty treats, coffee to warm your bones, and something to keep you entertained. Munford is home to the often-recommend Caked and Confused on Beaver Road and Mt. Zion Bakery on Munford Avenue, which serves up treats until 10 p.m. Friday-Sunday. You can also check out Deer Coffee on Wesley Reed Drive in Atoka for coffee, smoothies, and protein shakes.

It’s still winter — and high temperatures in the teens arrive on Sunday — so there’s not a lot on the schedule, but that will change soon! A genealogy class starts next weekend at the Tipton County Museum, the gardening series begins the first Saturday in February, and the Chocolate Tour is scheduled for the weekend after that.
