Ronnie Gorton trial
Judge Joe Walker looks on as former pastor Ronnie Gorton testifies on Aug. 28, 2019.

On Tuesday, March 25, the Tennessee Supreme Court extended its suspension of most in-person court proceedings until April 30.

The suspension includes, but is not limited to, municipal, juvenile, general sessions, trial and appellate courts.

The Tipton County Justice Complex will be open, but no court proceedings will be held unless they were already in progress.

The original order, issued March 13, postponed proceedings until March 30.

Court dates will be reset and defendants are encouraged to be in contact with their attorneys regarding new dates.

There are several exceptions to this order, such as bond-related matters, relief from abuse and emergency custody hearings.
