U.S. Representative David Kustoff (R-TN) made a stop at Bozo’s Cafe in Mason this morning to wrap up his eight-day, 15-county tour of West Tennessee restaurants designed to see how businesses are dealing with COVID-19.

“I want to see what’s on their minds, what issues are important to them and how they’ve coped with COVID-19 business-wise and economically,” Kustoff said. “We’ve met a lot of good people.”

Kustoff ate a barbecue lunch today with Tipton County Sheriff Pancho Chumley, Covington Mayor Justin Hanson, District Attorney Mark Davidson, Covington Police Chief Larry Lindsey and others.

“The congressman has being going around to every county in the district … visiting small businesses, local restaurants, just supporting them with our business and inviting local leaders and community members out as well,” said Jake Kolar, Kustoff’s district aide. “We’re trying to stay within COVID guidelines but also help the community out and boost our economy as much as we can.”

Kustoff said listening to his constituents was the primary purpose of the tour, which included more than 30 stops.

“It’s about being a better legislator, being able to write legislation that actually applies to what they need during COVID-19 and to be able to make good decisions as I cast these important votes over the next several weeks.”
