On Friday, Aug. 4, members of Ravenscroft Episcopal Chapel met with staff at Drummonds Elementary to donate school supplies.

The school’s new guidance counselor, Jamie Roedersheimer, has set up a supply “store” for any DES student in need to come and “shop” for their supplies, that way, the child gets everything they need for free, while enjoying picking things out for themselves.

“We chose DES because many of us have strong ties to the school,” said Angie Richardson.  “My brothers and I attended DES from kindergarten through fifth grade.  During that time, unknown to me, Richard Vandergrift was also involved with the school’s sports programs. We spoke on the amazing changes and growth the school has undergone since our time there and are happy to be a small part of that again.”

The church gave each child cash to take into the community and offer help.

“Anistyn, Ashby and Mason all chose to tour the Paws and Claws Quarantine Facility and each chose a dog to sponsor.”

Malyssa and Chloe Nichols of Ravenscroft have chosen to volunteer at PetSmart in Millington.

“This is all part of Ravenscroft’s Missional Ministry Outreach Program, which focuses on getting the church, especially the children, involved in the community while helping out those in need,” Richardson said. “We are hoping this teaches them to take the lessons from church out and about, to share love, hope, and help as much as they are able.”

She said the program is also a way to meet more people and become more active in the community.

“We are a tiny, quaint, welcoming little church on Holly Grove Road in Brighton, and would love to invite any and all to come see what else we’re working on.”

The church is located at 8219 Holly Grove Road. Services are held on Sundays at 8:45 a.m.
