By Echo Day on October 2, 2021

A woman’s body was discovered in burning home on Patricia Lane early Saturday morning.

A fatal house fire in Drummonds is under investigation.

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office and Tipton County Fire Department responded to a house fire on Patricia Lane at approximately 2:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2. When emergency personnel arrived on the scene the home was full engulfed.

During the process of extinguishing the blaze a body was found in the home. The victim has been transported to the medical examiner’s office in Memphis for identification and to determine the cause and manner of death.

“Any loss of life is tragic and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased,” Sheriff Shannon Beasley said. “We are in the early stages of the investigation at this time and will work to determine how the fire began and how the victim died.”

TCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the victim’s death. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Bomb and Arson division is assisting to determine the cause of the fire.

The Atoka and Munford fire departments and Gilt Edge, Quito and Three Star volunteer fire departments provided mutual aid in fighting the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The case remains active and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 901-475-3300, Central Dispatch after hours at 901-475-4300, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office Tip line at 901-475-3307 or email tips to sheriff@tiptonco.com or Facebook Sheriff Shannon Beasley.
