MASON – The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a triple shooting that took place in the Richland Hills subdivision Saturday night.

Detectives believe multiple people were shooting and, in addition to the three victims, multiple homes and vehicles on Harmony Drive were also shot.

One of the three victims was transported to Baptist-Tipton and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Sheriff Pancho Chumley said the motive is currently unclear.

“This remains an active scene and the investigation is ongoing,” he said. “Our detectives, along with the assistance of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, are still working to gather information and all of the facts to this case.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the TCSO at 901-475-3300, Central Dispatch after hours at 901-475-4300, call the tip line at 901-475-3007 or email tips to sheriff@tiptonco.com.

On Monday, Mason fired its only full-time police officer and did not accept the appointment of a new police chief, which effectively means there is no police department. The TCSO has been supplementing their coverage for four years, due to Mason being understaffed, and this week took over covering the town while the department is in transition.

The Mason Board of Mayor and Aldermen is set to host a virtual special called meeting tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The meeting has been advertised only on their website and in city hall, which is not open to the public.
