Terrance Taylor II, wanted for a homicide in Covington last month, turned himself in Tuesday morning.

The 22-year-old is a suspect in the murder of Dontavious Edwards on Dec. 28, 2020. Edwards, 19, was shot on Wooten Street and was airlifted to the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis where he underwent surgery and later died.

Caprice Peete, Taylor’s co-defendant, was arrested in Huntsville, Ala. on Jan. 3. He is accused of shooting an Alabama man the night before and after he was charged by the Madison County, Ala. sheriff’s office they realized Peete was wanted here.

Peete waived his extradition hearing and returned to Tipton County last week.

Taylor was added to the TBI’s Most Wanted list on Jan. 6. Both the TBI and the U.S. Marshals had a reward for information leading to his arrest.

Covington Police Chief Larry Lindsey said Taylor contacted the department through a third party and wanted to make arrangements to surrender to police.

Both men are currently in custody at the Tipton County Jail.
