Covington PD looking for information in string of vehicle burglaries at Unilever

By Echo Day on April 14, 2022

Detectives with the Covington Police Department are seeking assistance in identifying a vehicle suspected in a series of burglaries.

The 15 vehicle burglaries occurred at approximately 10:40 PM on Friday, April 1 at the employee parking lot of Unilever located at 2000 Highway 51 North in Covington.

Detectives developed a suspect vehicle in the case from the video footage. The vehicle is described as a silver Hyundai Sonata with 4 doors and damage to the rear bumper.

The investigation has revealed that multiple suspects (at least four subjects) wearing dark clothing, were in the suspect vehicle which was observed to enter the security gate immediately after an employee accessed the parking lot. The suspects shattered windows to gain entry into the vehicles and snagged money and personal items from the vehicles.

The burglaries were discovered by employees exiting the business to leave the lot. Video footage indicates the vehicle left the parking lot and exited the area east of the main entrance toward the rear of the property. Detectives continue canvassing the area and interviewing employees who may have seen the people involved.

“We are asking for assistance in findings out who is responsible for these thefts.” said Chief Donna Turner. “We are hoping the vehicle photographs will help determine who owns the vehicle to give us a lead in the case.”

If you have seen this vehicle or have information in this case, please contact the Covington Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 901-475-1261 or after hours at Central Dispatch at 901-475-4300. In addition, tips may be sent to the Covington Police Department Facebook messenger.
