On Tuesday night, the Covington Fire Department officially welcomed its new hires and promoted firefighters with a swearing in ceremony.

“We have had some changes in our fire department lately, some departures, and that brings about some new faces to our team,” said mayor Justin Hanson.

Jeremy Channell was recently promoted to assistant chief, Baker McCool was promoted to A-shift lieutenant and Zach Moffett and Andrew Owen were sworn in as new firefighters by chief Richard Griggs.

Channell has been a firefighter for nearly 20 years and McCool for 10 years. Moffett and Owen both served in the reserve program before being hired full-time.
