Lockdown lifted at Brighton schools

By Echo Day on November 22, 2019

The precautionary lockdown at Brighton schools has been lifted.

At 9:37 a.m. the school system tweeted it had initiated the lockdown.

Update for everyone – BHS, BMS, and BES are all on a precautionary lock down because of some rumors that were spread on social media by two students this morning. We are investigating but thus far have found nothing credible. We will keep you posted…

— Tipton Co Schools (@TCSchools_) November 22, 2019

Parents began posting about a police presence at the schools at approximately 9:40 a.m.

At 10:24 a.m., Brighton High School tweeted the lockdown had been lifted.

We were under lockdown. The matter was investigated and there has been deemed to be no threat and school has resumed to a normal day. Thank you to @TCSchools_ and local law enforcement for responding so quickly to help.

The nature of the rumors has not yet been released, but superintendent Dr. John Combs said the rumors were not credible.

The Leader will update when more information is available.
