Shoppers expecting to pop into the North Covington Dollar General will have to go elsewhere for the time being.
On Friday morning, Covington Fire Chief Richard Griggs confirmed the store was closed by the fire marshal for life safety issues.
He said the fire department received seven different complaints about blocked aisles over the last few months. Management and employees have cooperated with their inspections and have cleaned up everything they’ve asked, but a closure was necessary.
On Monday, several aisles in the store were completely or partially blocked by carts containing boxes of items needing to be stocked. There were no employees seen on the floor at the time.
Griggs said the store, which is located at the corner of Hwy. 51 and Industrial, is under new management as well. T
No other Dollar General locations have been closed.
