The Tennessee Department of Health has reported a fourth Tipton Countian death has been attributed to COVID-19.
TDH does not give any identifying information about patients. Three other deaths were reported in May.
By Wednesday, the total number of confirmed cases increased had increased to 534, with 84 of those being active.
There have been 89 cases – an average of 5.23 per day – diagnosed since June 1.
There have also been an estimated 141.6 tests per day since June 1, bringing the total number of Tipton Countians tested to 6,581 (10.7 percent of the population).
The Tennessee National Guard will return to the Tipton County Health Department on Thursday, June 18 for free drive-thru testing.
“I spoke with the TDOH yesterday afternoon and they informed me that the National Guard had contacted them advising they had some nurse teams available to do testing,” said Tommy Dunavant, Tipton County Emergency Management Agency Director. “So the TDOH decided to re-open three drive-up test sites, Tipton, Fayette and Dyer Counties. They did not give any reasons behind the decision on these three counties, and they gave no time frame on how long they would be in Tipton.”
Drive-thru testing will be available Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
