In 2015, the children’s parade theme was “Down on the Farm.”

Covington’s Heritage Festival is quickly approaching and the children’s parade theme has just been announced.

As a Heritage Festival tradition, Saturday’s festivities will begin with the traditional Roll ‘N Stroll children’s parade around the historic court square.

This year’s parade, sponsored by the Tipton Christian Academy Preschool, is Cars themed and children are encouraged to dress up in their favorite characters from the Disney Pixar franchise.

The parade begins at 9 a.m. and participants are asked to meet in front of the post office, at the corner of South Main and Church streets, at 8:45 a.m. Local veterans will lead a color guard in the parade and the Tipton Line Dancers will be dressed in the theme.

There will be a group photo in front of the Ruffin Theater at the end of the parade with special guest photo prop, “Mater” from the Cars movies.

Immediately following the parade will be opening remarks from local dignitaries in Court Square Park.
