This weekend, the annual Dickens Christmas event returns.

Organized by the Covington Downtown Merchants Association, the event is based on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and will feature characters from the beloved story milling about with the guests.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Many different activities are planned for the event.

There will be a giant snow globe you can walk inside, scavenger hunt, winter wonderland in Court Square Park where there will be pictures with Santa, Christmas ornament making with Girl Scouts and falling snow! 

Don’t miss the Victorian characters walking around, live Christmas tree farm, vendors selling handmade crafts, food items, and wreaths!

There will also be kettle corn made on site and a cookie tasting.

Father Christmas will be available, too.

There will be local eateries open and dozens of shops to choose from. The downtown merchants are holding a best dressed staff contest, so be sure to vote for your favorites. 

Don’t miss the paper boys and paper girls passing out newspapers, with coupons, and the town crier announce events!

Carriage rides

Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available at the south entrance to the courthouse from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
