There have been no cases of coronavirus, or COVID-19, reported in Tipton County and one case reported in neighboring Shelby County.

Neither the Tipton County Health Department nor the Tennessee Department of Education has made a recommendation to close schools at this time. Shelby County Schools this morning announced it would be closed an extra week after spring break.

Several Memphis-based college campuses have announced closures and distance learning plans to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Tipton County schools are scheduled for spring from March 23-27.

The only school-related closure or cancellation reported thus far has been the cancellation of the statewide tnAchieves mandatory meetings, which are required for TN Promise eligible seniors. The meetings will now be conducted via webinar.
