National Nurses Week comes every year in early May.

With COVID-19 gripping the country, it has taken on special significance this year.

Covington Mayor Justin Hanson and the Covington Fire Department made sure the city’s nurses were recognized appropriately with a stop by Magnolia Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation on Monday.

Hanson read a proclamation that was followed by a balloon release.

“I just want to take this moment to recognize you and your hard work and say thank you on behalf of the City of Covington,” Hanson said. “We’re certainly glad you’re doing what you’re doing, taking care of our greatest generation.”
