Atoka police investigating stabbing that left two people wounded

By Echo Day on January 26, 2025

The Atoka Police Department is investigating a violent incident involving a stabbing that occurred Friday evening on Highway 51 South.

At approximately 4:50 PM, officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 11000 block of Highway 51 South. Upon arrival, they found a bloody crime scene but no individuals involved. Shortly afterward, a second call directed officers to the 9300 block of Highway 51 South. A caller there reported being involved in a road rage incident tied to the earlier scene, claiming an altercation began when someone approached his vehicle.

As the investigation unfolded, officers located another individual in the 500 block of Rolling Oaks who had sustained knife wounds. One individual was transported to Regional One Hospital in Memphis in critical condition, while the other was taken to Baptist Hospital in Covington with non-critical injuries.

No arrests have been made as of now, but authorities emphasize that the investigation is active and ongoing.

“We take incidents like this very seriously and are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover all the facts,” said Chief Anthony W. Rudolph. “Our officers are working diligently to ensure the safety of our community and bring clarity to what transpired. We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist us in our efforts.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Atoka Police Department at 901-837-5302 or Dispatch at 901-475-4300.
